The Shippensburg University women’s soccer team returned to David See Field on Friday, for a PSAC matchup against the Crimson Hawks of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
The Raiders started the scoring off when SU senior midfielder Rhonda Runion, scored her second goal of the year off a well-placed corner kick by Rachel Hess. An effort by the IUP goalie came up short as it bounced off her hands, allowing Runion to send it to the back of the net.
SU goalkeeper Shelbie Rackley had an easy work load in the first half by saving the only shot on net.
IUP came out in the second half ablaze, tying the game at 1 when IUP freshman Adrienne Yoder slid one past Rackley and into the right side of the net.
The game remained tied at 1, until overtime. Both teams came out strong in the first overtime period and kept the surge throughout as the Raiders and Crimson Hawks both recorded three shots in the first overtime.
However, the second overtime contrasted the first, with IUP managing four shots with none on net while the Raiders did not any.
The game ended in a 1-1 tie, sending the Raiders record to 2-2-2 overall, 0-2-1 in PSAC play and IUP’s record to 4-1-1 overall and 0-1-1 in PSAC play.
