The Shippensburg University Swimming team took a dual meet against Davis & Elkins on Saturday with the men taking seven events to win 129-68 and the women securing ten event victories in their 108-60 victory.

There were several standout performances for the Red Raiders despite many swimmers making their season debuts in certain events for the team. Juniors Jake Dunnigan and Stefan Szilagyi won the 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard butterfly respectively.

Senior R.J. Phiambolis added a victory in the 200-yard individual medley, posting a time of 2:05:59, while freshman Kristian Voulopos took the 200-yard backstroke 2:04:44 to cap off the men’s team victory by a score of 129-68.

Juniors Rikki Sargent and Carolyn Meier headlined the women’s performances, as each of them won two events for the Red Raiders. Sargent competed in the 100-yard freestyle for the first time this season and won the event in 55.46 seconds, while Meier posted the top time in both the 200 and 500-yard freestyle.

Freshman MacKenna Angert also added multiple event victories in the 108-60 win for the women’s team.

The team will compete in their next meet on Saturday January 31 at the Bucknell Invitational. That meet will be the team’s last competition before PSAC championships are held in mid February.
