Founding Date at Shippensburg: May 9, 1959

Current number of members: 16

President: Dylan Staats

Moto: “Better men for a better world.”

Colors: Cherry red and battleship gray

Flower: Red Carnation

National Philanthropy: Saint Jude’s Research Hospital

Tau Kappa Epsilon believes in the quality of brotherhood.

“We are basically a family, a home away from home,” fraternity president, Dylan Staats said.

Staats also said members of the fraternity can usually be seen together whether that be in the library or getting food, brothers are not usually seen alone.

Extending their brotherhood, Tau Kappa Epsilon will be inviting members from the Kutztown chapter to play a football game against each other.

They will also soon be celebrating their annual, “TKEsgiving”. A thanksgiving dinner where each pledge class will bring something to cook for the dinner.

In addition, the members support each other off campus as well. Recently an alumni’s mother passed away from breast cancer. Many of the members went to the alumni’s hometown to support him and his mother by participating in a breast cancer walk.

Tau Kappa Epsilon is also in support of other causes. This semester they have participated in canning for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS. In the spring semester the fraternity will be hosting a soccer tournament to raise money for their national philanthropy, Saint Jude’s Research Hospital.

Staats believes that students should consider going Greek.
“Join because it’s the best way to go through college,” Staats said, “You get leadership experience and meet a lot of people through Alumni and when you’re planning events and have to talk to people higher up at Shippensburg.”
