The last thing a student thinks about in the spring is Homecoming, but the Homecoming Committee has already picked a theme for the 2013 Homecoming celebration.

The Homecoming Committee has planned a special event for the unveiling of this year’s theme. On Monday, April 29 at 9 P.M., the movie Identity Thief starring Jason Batemen and Melissa McCarthy will be shown outside in the academic quad on a large projection screen.

The movie, along with snacks, candy, drinks and a promotional item, are free. The first 30 students will receive a free lawn chair or blanket. If it rains the location for the event is the in CUB MPR.

Mike Patchak, a senior marketing major, is serving on the Homecoming Committee for his second year as the Spirit and Competition Chairperson. Patchak is excited about the 2013 Homecoming theme that is to be released at the movie premier.

“It is a theme that so many students can be excited about and that people will really like. It is a very versatile theme and the Homecoming Committee will be able to do a lot with it,” Patchak said.

Homecoming is in late October this year with the first event falling after fall break. PR Blitz week, Homecoming’s promotional week, is from October 16-18. Homecoming week is October 21-25 with the football game and King and Queen coronation on Saturday, October 26.

Do not fret. Even though the dates are later, the same events you know and love will be returning such as Battle of the Campus, Lip Sync, Theme Dinner, and the Spirit Rally. There will also be new surprises, promotional items and events based upon this year’s theme.
