SUTV invites all students to the live airing of its newest special report “Hidden Barriers” on Wednesday, April 27, at 7 p.m. in the Grove Forum.

Immediately following the broadcast, hosts Kyle Rogers and Rachel Flores will host a live conversation in a town-hall fashion with a group of experts in the topics discussed and the social issues on campus.

“Hidden Barriers” takes a closer look at the lives of a few Shippensburg University students who have faced barriers that others cannot see.
“We are doing more than spotlighting a few unique individuals,” said Rogers, host of “Hidden Barriers” and SUTV news anchor. “We’re addressing social issues.”

Rogers hopes that “Hidden Barriers” will redefine diversity. “When we hear the word diversity, most of us think it’s a code word for race, when really, diversity is so much more than just the color of one’s skin,” Rogers said. “It’s about the differences among us.”

Rogers believes it is important to hear the opinions of diverse individuals. “I feel like our generation is a very progressive group of people, and when we come across different people, we need to hear from them,” Rogers said.

“There are so many people out there who are different, that wouldn’t be considered one of society’s norm, and are doing great things,” Rogers said. “The people you’ll meet in ‘Hidden Barriers’ don’t let their differences get in the way of making a difference, and to me that’s fascinating, because in this world, it’s so easy to get pushed down and just stay laying on the ground.”

“Hidden Barriers” will also air on SUTV: Comcast/Xfinity Channel 21 and Campus Channel 82. The event will also be simulcasted on 88.7 WSYC.
