Shippensburg University student Tavian Gill, 24, was charged with aggravated assault following an incident in which he allegedly attacked a woman in a residence hall.

Shippensburg University police responded to the incident at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, where they found the victim sitting against a wall with blood on her face. Gill was found pacing nearby yelling various slurs.

Upon questioning, Gill allegedly admitted to SUPD that he physically assaulted the victim following an incident where she spat on him. An SUPD report said Gill responded by dragging the victim from the room and striking her several times in the face before the floor’s RA, a witness to the incident, intervened.

A felony charge of aggravated assault, along with a simple assault misdemeanor charge and a summary charge of disorderly conduct were filed at District Court 09-3-01.

Gill failed to post bail of $10,000 set by Magisterial District Judge Bryan Ruth. He faces a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, May 28.

The incident is under ongoing investigation by Shippensburg University police.
