Women’s soccer goes down against Gannon

Shippensburg (4-5-1), 3-5-1 PSAC) tallied one goal, but undefeated Gannon (10-0, 9-0 PSAC) prevailed 2-1 on a very cold day at David See Field. Shippensburg had many obstacles in today’s game.

Red Raiders have record comeback, beat ESU in 5 OT

The Red Raiders capped a miraculous comeback against the East Stroudsburg Warriors, converting a two-point conversion in the fifth overtime to finalize the score at 69-67. Quarterback Ryan Zapoticky found receiver Jordan Harro in the back of the end zone for the finishing touches on the game, which was the longest in SU football history.

The Shippensburg Raiders (4-3) dropped a heartbreaking loss in the second period of overtime to the Lock Haven Bald Eagles (3-3-1) on Wednesday.

Women’s soccer splits week’s games

The women’s soccer team captured a 2-0 victory over Shepherd University, but dropped a 2-0 decision against West Chester University in a pair of games this week. So far this season, SU (3-4-1) has faced a rigorous schedule.

The college football season is in full swing, which means that it is time to see how things stack up now that the season is a quarter of the way finished. The contending teams in the country are beginning to separate themselves from the pretenders and we are beginning to gain insight as to which teams are capable of making a playoff run.

Bleacher Talk: Headlines can dominate NFL season

After missing all but one game last season due to a suspension, Minnesota Vikings’ running back Adrian Peterson finally made his return to the NFL last week in Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers. Peterson was suspended without pay last season after being indicted for child abuse charges against his son from May of 2014.

Women’s soccer splits games this past week

The Shippensburg University women’s soccer team split its game this week, defeating the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown 1-0 and losing 2-1 to Kutztown. For the weekend, SU tallied two goals, 32 shots and 15 shots on goal. SU returns to action on Saturday, Sept.

Red Raiders’ comeback attempt falls short at Cal U

CALIFORNIA, Pa. — Despite a furious second half comeback, the Red Raiders’ rally fell short on Saturday as they lost to the California (Pa.) Vulcans, 34-26. SU (2-1, 0-0) came up empty despite shutting the Vulcans (2-1, 0-0) out in the second half and outgaining them in total yards. Senior receiver Sheldon Mayer gave the team the spark it needed as he returned a punt for an 82 yard score with 6:38 left in the third.

Red Raiders stay hot, beat Edinboro

The Red Raiders capped a 10-point comeback when sophomore Ryan Zapoticky delivered a touchdown pass to sophomore Jeff Gulyas with 3:19 remaining in a 20-13 road win over Edinboro on a rainy Saturday afternoon. SU (2-0) was trailing 13-3 at halftime but were able to turn it around in the second half.
