The Shippensburg University women’s volleyball team started off their 2016 season with two victories on Friday, Sept. 2 and one win and one loss on Saturday, Sept. 3at the Raider Classic held in Heiges Field House.
The Raiders have taken the season by storm, outscoring opponents 10-1 throughout the first three games of the season. SU began the season winning a tightly contested match against Messiah College, 1-0 in overtime on a goal by senior Katelyn Grazan. SU beat Messiah last season in a similar fashion, winning in overtime 1-0.
On a beautiful Saturday night on the campus of Shippensburg University, the men’s and women’s cross-country teams were set to battle in their only home meet of the season. This meet had a twist, however.
On Thursday, Sept. 1, California University of Pennsylvania sent its women’s soccer team to David See Field to take on Shippensburg University in the 2016 home opener for the Raiders.
The Shippensburg University men’s soccer team opened the 2016 season with a dominating win over Shepherd on Thursday night by a score of 3-0.
It was not pretty, but in the end the Shippensburg University football team got the best of American International College, stinging the Yellow Jackets, 16-9. The win marked SU’s 500th in school history. The Raiders started playing football in 1891.
Last season, Shippensburg University defensive end Richard Nase terrorized opposing offenses and was a one-man wrecking crew as a member of the SU football team defense.

The 2016 Shippensburg University field hockey team has enjoyed a ton of success in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in recent years, reaching the PSAC Tournament in each of the last 15 years.
