Senator elections to take place in April

Vice President of External Affairs Harun Pacavar announced that senator elections will occur on Monday, April 10, and SGA will be promoting the elections through social media. SGA also plans to have a table setup in the CUB for the election to get as much student involvement as possible.

Ship Cuddles Up to APB Build-a-Buddy Event

 The Activities Program Board (APB) held its annual Build-a-Buddy event at the CUB on Feb. 4. The event involved a Build-a-Bear-style workshop, at which students take the plush skins of stuffed animals such as dogs, elephants and dolphins and fill the plush skins with cotton stuffing.

SU holds 35th annual March for Humanity

Shippensburg University held its 35th annual March for Humanity in honor of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and to march against racial injustice and discrimination on Jan. 26 at Old Main Chapel. The march was hosted by Shippensburg University’s African American Organization and the Multicultural Affairs office. Other campus groups present were the Multi-Ethnic Student Association, Elite Dance Troupe, Latino Student Organization and The B.R.O.T.H.E.R.S. Organization.

MESA holds annual Cultural Fusion Fest

The Multi-Ethnic Student Association (MESA) held its annual Cultural Fusion Festival in the Tuscarora Room in the Reisner Dining Hall on Saturday, April 4. MESA was created for students who come from multiple different ethnic backgrounds and to raise awareness of multi-cultural SU students.

APSCUF applauds governor’s budget

A prominent state system faculty union is praising Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf’s recent budget plan for prioritizing public higher education. Association of Pennsylvania State Colleges and University Faculties (APSCUF) President Jamie Martin applauded the budget plan for its “much-needed investment” in the state system.

Gilbert Hall lot adds commuter parking

Effective for the spring semester, 13 parking spaces in the FS-1 lot behind Gilbert Hall have been redesignated for student commuter parking, according to the Shippensburg University Police Department. The new commuter parking spaces are located at the west end of the parking lot and are marked with commuter parking signs.
