SU’s Student Government Association heard updates from a number of senators about upcoming campus events during its monthly public meeting March 16.

President Kennedy Holt announced that senator petitions are available at the CUB information desk, and submissions are due by March 24.

Vice President of Finance Ethan Rosenberry announced that the budget and finance committee will not be considering any additional allocation or capital expenditure requests to on-campus clubs, groups and organizations on campus for the rest of the academic year and that an email should have been sent out to those groups.

Vice President of External Affairs Harun Pacavar said that his committee will meet March 20 to discuss further events that can be hosted for the remainder of the semester.

“We’re looking to do something more than a movie night, and we want to see if we can get some other departments to get involved,” Pacavar said. Pacavar also reported that Internal Affairs has posted updates on the Ramadan event that will take place on Monday, March 22, and Wednesday, April 5 in CUB 103 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and that information on senator elections will be released at a later date.

Pacavar also announced that the next External Affairs Committee meeting will be taking place in CUB 201 on Monday, March 21, at 1 p.m.

On senator reports, Senator Isabelle Schannauer said a Mocktail Night will occur March 29. Currently, fewer than 10 groups have signed up, but they hope to reach 15. Schannauer also reported that the next President’s Hour will occur on Tuesday, April 4, in Naugle Hall’s multi-purpose room.

Senator of Athletics Morgan Brumbaugh reported that the athletics department recently held its swim fund meet for students with special needs, and it plans to do the same in April for outdoor sports, such as a track meet. Brumbaugh also reported that Project Prom, which aims to help students prepare for prom, will occur on Sunday, March 26, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Senator of International Students Ali Sina Sharifi announced that the international students will be having a dinner event at the president’s house on Sunday, March 26.

SGA’s next public meeting will occur on Thursday, March 26 at 4 p.m. in CUB MPR C.
