SGA hosts second meeting, discusses student groups and welcomes new member

The Student Government Association (SGA) met last Thursday in the Ceddia Union Building Multi-Purpose Room. Eleven members were absent due to COVID-19 contact tracing, said Riley Brown, SGA president.

COVID concerns spark discussion on campus

Five weeks into the semester, uncertainty and rumors about how COVID-19 is affecting Shippensburg University have spread rapidly. Questions about moving to online instruction, how COVID-19 cases are calculated by the school and what support students receive in quarantine are circling campus.

Demonstrators spew hate on campus

Last semester, demonstrators from Key of David Christian Center, located near Philadelphia, came to Shippensburg University holding signs with derogatory words about women, non-Christians and the LGBTQ community. Friday, the group showed up again, demonstrating on the lawn outside of Grove Hall.

ROTC remembers and honors 20th anniversary of 9/11

On the Monday following the 20th anniversary of 9/11, SU community members gathered in remembrance. The event was a brief ceremony held outside of the Ezra Lehman Library, where 20 years ago it was the site of a candlelight vigil held the night after the attacks. The memorial saw speeches from ROTC members and leaders who were impacted by the events of the day, as well as a message from Interim President Charles Patterson.

Many of us over the last year and a half, relied on food delivery, no-contact pickup and fast food. While customers began to feel more comfortable eating out as COVID-19 restrictions loosened, restaurants found themselves without enough staff to accommodate the long-awaited rush back to the normality of pre-pandemic days.

One injured in shooting near campus

A non-fatal shooting in the 200 block of Queen Street was reported at 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 22, according to a Pennsylvania State Police report.
