A snowy welcome back to campus

Last week, students had a snowy greeting as they returned to campus for the spring semester. About 3 inches of snow fell Monday morning in Shippensburg before warmer weather moved in and quickly melted it later in the week.

Shippensburg University celebrated its non-traditional Homecoming with socially distanced activities across campus. Officials also crowned Eliza Resetar and Quamia Wells as Homecoming Royalty outside of Gilbert Hall and Old Main.

Trump rallies local supporters

President Donald Trump held a rally for his campaign in Middletown, Pennsylvania, last Saturday. Nearing Election Day, candidates are appealing to swing state voters in an attempt to secure votes. Trump spoke about a variety of topics including the election, his Supreme Court pick and voting by mail.


First Responders Gallery

Though it may have happened 19 years ago, the lives lost in the Sept. 11 terror attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City will never be forgotten. Among the 2,996 victims were 343 firefighters and 60 police officers who all bravely ran into the burning towers in order to save complete strangers. Across the nation we remember the sacrifices first responders make daily.


Students return to campus

After six months of waiting, students from Shippensburg University returned to campus this past weekend, eager to start the fall 2020 semester. However, there will be many changes for students to get used to. From wearing masks at all times, to maintaining a 6-foot social distance, but this does not dampen the friendly atmosphere of campus.

A pandemic's impact: Shippensburg University campus

When Shippensburg University students living on campus traveled home for spring break, they did not expect the next time they would return to campus would be to collect their belongings. 

After a week-long extension to spring break, students returned to classes through the power of internet. University officials, in an abundance of caution, moved all courses online to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus. Now, SU's campus is barren.

University officials have not yet announced when campus will re-open.

'Shippensburg United' brings Shippensburg community together hand-in-hand for community

Members of the Shippensburg community formed a human chain along King Street to show unity in the face of the strife recent events such as a drug overdose, racial intimidation and drug-related homicide have brought to the town. 


SU brass, string ensemble perform fall recital

The Shippensburg University Department of Music and Theatre Arts presented the brass and string ensemble recital last Sunday in Old Main Chapel. Several smaller brass ensembles opened the recital, followed by the string ensemble performance. Afterward, the full brass ensemble took the stage and wrapped up the performance. 


Annual Corn Festival comes to Shippensburg

The Corn Festival comes to Shippensburg every year on the last Saturday in August. This year the festival fell on August 31, 2019. The festival features many local vendors, restaurants and musicians.
