Shippensburg University’s student-run campus newspaper, The Slate, launched a new podcast series this week titled “Behind the Lens.”
Multimedia Editor Madison Sharp creates and produces this podcast to express her love for multimedia storytelling and interview various creators with similar passions for photography, videography and everything in between.
“I feel like I don’t get to talk to too many people about stuff like that,” Sharp said. “People who mainly do photography or are behind the camera a lot of the time don’t get to have their voice out there as much.”
The first episode was released on Tuesday and features Sharp interviewing Cody Myers, an adjunct instructor at Shippensburg University in the Communication, Journalism and Media Department.
Myers earned his bachelor’s degree at Kutztown University and his master’s at SU. This semester is Myers’s first semester teaching, and he is currently teaching COMM 284, Basic Media Production. In this class, he teaches students basic skills in audio and video production.
In the episode, Sharp and Myers discuss what got them interested in creating and visual storytelling; how to balance freelancing and work as both a student and a teacher; their thoughts and feelings on the growing digital landscape in the multimedia field; and much more.
Sharp plans to continue the series and have conversations with a variety of other photographers, videographers, journalists and overall multimedia creators and storytellers.
