The Student Government Association (SGA) voted on the approval of the draft operating budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year during an internal caucus on March 5. The motion, brought forward by SGA Vice President Emily Wojnarski, was approved unanimously.

Following the caucus, the draft budget was emailed to all student group advisers and officers, as well as posted on the SGA bulletin located on the second floor of the CUB.

The operating budget is funded by student activity fee monies. The fee is currently set at $24 per credit hour for undergraduate students and $20 per credit hour for graduate students. The operating budget, supported by the fee, allows SGA and the Budget and Finance Committee to allocate funds to student groups, organizations, boards, NCAA Intercollegiate Athletics and M&G operations that support the CUB and SUSSI.

The Budget and Finance Committee allocates these funds based on justification, spending history, membership growth and need.

Wojnarski would like to thank members of the budget and finance committee for their hard work and dedication in preparing the budget. Members of the committee include Alarice Huff, Ava Lins, Ben Perrin, Chase Garrison, Ethan Conrad, Ella Zinn, Elliot Oliphant, Kenny Tran, Kyle Marzullo, Morgan Stellfox, Ryan Mills and Samhitha Koganti.

Wojnarski also extends a thank you to committee advisers Kimberly Rockwell and Allie Rippeon for their leadership and continuous support.

SGA is also excited to highlight several upcoming opportunities for student engagement.

Nominations are now open for the Lorie Sheetz Student Life Impact Award, which recognizes students who make a meaningful difference on and off campus while also maintaining strong academics. Students should check their email, along with the On the Horizon Newsletter, for more information.

The nomination form will be open from March 23 through April 3. We also encourage students to attend President’s Hour on April 6 at 7 p.m. in the Orndorff Theater.

Additionally, we are thrilled to see more student organizations taking advantage of the open gallery discussion period during our public meetings to share events, initiatives and updates with the broader campus community.

SGA plans to vote publicly on the draft budget during their public meeting on April 2, which will be held at 4 p.m. in CUB 119.
