As the end of the semester inches closer, Thanksgiving is soon to be upon us. The holiday is full of classic dishes, with everything from turkey, to various side dishes and the variety of pies. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving is still over two weeks away. Fortunately, this apple crisp in a mug is here to give you an easy way to replicate a staple for the season. While pumpkin pie may be the star of the Thanksgiving dessert table, this apple crisp in a mug is a more accessible way for you to enjoy the distinctive holiday flavors.

Ingredients

4 tablespoons oats

2 tablespoons all purpose flour

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons chopped pecans

½ teaspoon cinnamon

1 pinch of salt

3 tablespoons melted butter

1 small apple, peeled and diced

Optional: vanilla ice cream

Instructions

Peel and dice the apple.

Toss the apple pieces in ½ tablespoon of flour, ½ tablespoon of brown sugar and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon.

Fill a microwave-safe mug with the apple mixture. The mixture will cook down, so fill the mug to your heart’s content.

Mix the oats, pecans, salt, and the remaining flour, brown sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl.

Add the melted butter in order to create the crisp topping.

Spoon the crisp mixture over the top of the apple mixture.

Microwave for about 2 minutes. To see if the apple crisp is done, check to see if the apples are bubbling and the entire dish is reduced in size.

If eating with ice cream, add a scoop on top and dig in.

This is the perfect recipe to make when you are longing for a classic holiday dessert from the comfort of your dorm room.
