The Shippensburg University field hockey team traveled to IUP where they shut down Belmont Abbey 7-0 this past Saturday.

The scoreboard reflected firsts for several players.

Juniors Carme Caracotche Picone and Kayla Snyder both scored their first collegiate goals along with freshman Sierra Crews.

Caracotche Picone led the team with two goals. One within the first five minutes of the game, and again within the last five minutes.

Snyder’s shot followed shortly after Caracotche Picone’s second, hitting the cage with a little over two minutes of play remaining, which ensured the win for the Raiders.

Other scorers for Shippensburg included sophomore Emily Bitters, junior McKenna Boyle and senior Agus Garibaldi. Boyle and Garibaldi also recorded two assists each.

2024 PSAC Defensive Player of the Year, redshirt senior Emma Albee held down the fort in goal to record the shutout.

The Raiders travel to West Chester on Tuesday for an evening game against the Golden Rams. Their first home game of the season will be on Friday, Sept. 12, versus the Assumption Grey Hounds.
