Shippensburg University’s men’s and women’s track and field teams had a strong showcase with their second home meet of the season at Seth Grove Stadium.
The men’s outdoor team took home 11 events, with seven on the track and four on the field.
Shippensburg had 19 performances that satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) automatic qualifying standards.
Gabriel Lewis led the Raiders in the 100-meter dash, earning a time of 10.58 seconds, which is 0.17 from his PR and school record. Jae Galloway had a personal season best in the 100m, taking a time of 10.82 seconds, which earned him third place.
Jeovaughni Daniel was the first-place finisher of the 110m hurdles at 14.58 seconds.
In the field, Gian Greggo earned a new personal best in shot put on a throw of 52 feet, 10 ¼ inches. Donovan Kitchen placed third on a throw of 51 feet, 10 ½ inches.
Ridge Crispino won the hammer throw on a top mark of 164 feet.
Jak Kearney won the long jump with ease, traveling 23 feet and 10 inches, just one inch shy of his personal best. This puts him second on the PSAC leaderboard.
As for the women’s outdoor team, Sasha Lee won the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.27 seconds, totaling seven event victories earned by the team.
Lee also took home the long jump with an astonishing jump of 20 feet, 2 ¼ inches. This moves her into second all-time in Shippensburg history and ranks 9th in the NCAA Division II qualifying list.
Riyah Whigham won the triple jump, improving to her season best of 38 feet and 5 inches. This ranks third on the PSAC leaderboard and No. 7 all-time at Shippensburg.
Carissa Bender matched her personal best in the pole vault, clearing 11 feet, 7 ¾ inches.
Makayla Decker had a personal best in the discus, throwing 142 feet, 4 inches. She finished third in the event. Decker’s throw is 9th all time in Shippensburg history.
ShanAnn Simmons finished fourth in the discus, also earning a new PR in a throw of 132 feet, 5 inches.
Ella Hartel, who is the reigning PSAC Women’s Cross Country Player of the Year, made her track and field debut, competing in the 1,500m and taking victory with an impressive time of 4:54.07.
Both teams will compete home for the Paul Kaiser Classic, a two-day meet that begins Friday, April 25.
