Shippensburg University’s Women’s Lacrosse split away games this past week against Shepherd University and Millersville University. The team’s record moves to 6-6.

On Wednesday afternoon, SU traveled to Shepherd for its second game against the Rams this season. The Raiders first meeting ended in a heartbreaking 9–8 loss for Shippensburg.

The rematch saw a heartbreaker for Shepherd when SU junior Ali Pioli scored the game-winning goal with 5:29 left in the fourth quarter.

Pioli and sophomore Brynn Hauck both recorded hat tricks while senior Sara Vosburg, junior Shannon Wood and freshman Maddie Phommachanh recorded two goals each.

The match was back and forth the entire way. The teams were never separated by more than three goals.

The Raiders found their opportunity and capitalized to pull away for the close 13-12 win.

In the midfield, junior Grace DeMarzio posted a team-best eight draw controls and four caused turnovers. Her team-high four groundballs gave her 100 for her career. She is the 15th player in school history to earn that achievement.

Defensively, senior goalie Kayla Vosburg finished with 10 saves, which marked her fourth double-digit save effort of the season.

On Saturday, SU traveled to Millersville for a night game. Both teams exchanged scoring runs to bring them within one for the final minutes of the fourth quarter, but the Raiders could not take the lead and fell 14-13.

Sophomore Olivia Glinski recorded her first career hat trick and an assist to lead the Raiders scoring. Pioli, Hauck and senior Jamie Carvin each finished with two goals. Pioli also added two assists, a groundball and a team-high four draw controls.

Sara Vosburg, junior Alyssa Krueger, Wood and Phommachanh posted a goal each.  In goal, Kayla Vosburg made nine saves and posted two groundballs.

The Raiders return home on Wednesday for their Autism Awareness Game against West Chester at 3 p.m.
