3 fall movies to cozy up with

Last Saturday was the first day of fall, and I spent it as one should, bundled up in blankets on a rainy day with my favorite fall movies. It is my tradition to watch these films as soon as there is a slight autumn breeze. The chilly, rainy day, along with my pestering cold, was the perfect excuse to begin my binge-watch. Here are the three movies I watched, and that you should also watch on your next cozy day in.

1. “When Harry Met Sally”

“When Harry Met Sally” is a classic romantic comedy that follows the story of Harry Burns, played by Billy Crystal, and Meg Ryan as Sally Albright and their enemies to friends to lovers romance. Although it is also considered a New Year’s movie, the first half captures the essence of New York City in the fall. With the bright colored trees, and Crystal and Ryan’s comfy sweaters, you cannot help but feel the autumnal spirit.

2. “Little Women” (2019)

Before her success with “Barbie,” Greta Gerwig also directed an adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women.” The story shifts between the present and the past of the four March sisters. It feels like a warm hug as it captures sisterhood, friendship, growing up and choosing your own narrative. The cinematography and score help contribute to the cozy fall and winter feeling.

3. “Twilight”

Based on the book series by Stephenie Meyer, “Twilight” is the perfect film for particularly rainy days. The story follows Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart, who has just moved to Forks, Washington. She meets 104-year-old vampire Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson, and falls in love with him. Whether you watch it ironically or unironically, “Twilight” helps you get into the autumn mood with its gloomy, cool-tone cinematography. The whole “Twilight” movie series itself is a must-watch during the fall to winter.
