Shippensburg University recently announced the newest student representative appointed to the Council of Trustees.

Following SU’s application and interview process, Gov. Tom Wolf appointed junior Seth Edwards to the SU Council of Trustees.

Edwards, a political science and communication/journalism major with a minor in history, is experienced in serving his campus community and is looking forward to his new position.

Edwards strives to be involved on campus. Throughout his time at SU, Edwards participated in several campus clubs and organizations including Ship Votes, Student Admissions Ambassadors and History Club. He met and worked with students, staff and faculty through his involvement.

Edwards was sworn into his position earlier this summer.

Edwards served as the vice president of external affairs for the Student Government Association (SGA) in the 2019-20 school year.

Edwards also serves on the College of Arts and Sciences and President's Student Advisory councils.

Student trustees must undergo an application process before earning their seat. Edwards said he “felt a true sense of readiness” when he chose to put himself in that pool of applicants.

Through his experience in campus organizations and democracy, Edwards says he is prepared for his role on the council.

Edwards said he is excited for the position because he wants the opportunity to genuinely represent SU students. “It is more than just a position to represent a body of people,” Edwards said.“It is a position to protect and ensure the best interests of all those who have been a part of the Shippensburg University Community.”

Edwards hopes to represent SU students, as well as their ideas, wishes, concerns and goals.
