The world just got a whole lot brighter with a new YouTube series, “Some Good News.”

John Krasinski, who plays Jim Halpert in “The Office,” created the YouTube series to shine a light on the good news occurring during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

“For years now I've been wondering, why is there not a news show dedicated entirely to just good news?” Krasinski said in his first episode.

Krasinski asks for the help of the world to send in videos and pictures to be featured every week.

Krasinski hosts numerous guests on his weekly show including “The Office” co-star Steve Carell. During the interview with Carell, the actors discuss the 15th anniversary of the show.

“It’s such a happy surprise that after all these years people are still tuning in and still finding it even today,” Carell said.

Carell and Krasinski reminisce on their favorite memories, including where Michael Scott, Carell’s character, bought a micro-flat screen TV, and attempted to show it off to Jim and Pam Halpert, played by Krasinski and Jenna Fischer.

“I don't think I ever laughed harder in my life,” Krasinski said while trying to hold his laughter in over the Zoom call.

In Episode 2 of "Some Good News," Krasinski interviewed 9-year-old Aubrey after her family tweeted Krasinski about the disappointment in missing the opportunity to see the hit Broadway musical “Hamilton.”

Krasinski had a couple of surprises for Aubrey. Emily Blunt, who starred as Mary Poppins in the movie “Mary Poppins Returns,” made an appearance on the Zoom call. Blunt is married to Krasinski. As Emily and John asked Aubrey questions about the movie a surprise guest joined the call.

Lin-Manuel Miranda who played Jack in “Mary Poppins Returns” and Alexander Hamilton in the original cast of the Broadway show “Hamilton” joined the call, surprising the young fan.

“Oh are you a big ‘Office’ fan?” Miranda exclaims to Aubrey who is speechless.

Krasinski thanks Miranda for joining the Zoom call and tells Miranda that he is sending Aubrey and her family to “Hamilton” in New York. However Miranda wanted to step things up.

Seconds later, more and more of the original cast of “Hamilton” joined the Zoom call to sing the hit song, “Alexander Hamilton.”

There are currently five episodes of “Some Good News.” Krasinski uploads a new episode every Sunday evening. His goal is to continue the production of “Some Good News” even after the coronavirus is contained.
