Story Slam will be “coming home” to Shippensburg’s Appalachian Brewing Company for the first time on Sept. 12.

Story SLAM will be a live story telling contest, where participants have to create a story based on a theme each month. September’s theme will be “Coming Home,” and the story must pertain to the month.

Other rules from the event website include that the story must be five minutes long, and the story should be true and feature the contestant as the main character. They also cannot use notes or props.

Shippensburg is the newest location for Story Slam, and it has been held in cities and counties such as Lancaster, West Chester, Delco, Lehigh Valley and York. Business ownders in Shippensburg came together to create this new event.

Shippensburg Story Slam will be held every second Thursday of the month, starting Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.
