Shippensburg University’s Army ROTC Raider Battalion kicked off its annual Veteran’s Day festivities on Monday, and will conclude with a ceremony on Friday in acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by current and former members of the U.S. military.

This year’s ceremony will feature Lt. Col. Christopher Morton, chair of the department of military science. The ceremony will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Ceddia Union Building (CUB).

Each year, the ceremony’s speakers discuss their experiences in the military and express gratitude toward those who have served. At the end of the event, a ceremonial wreath is presented in honor of the holiday.

Throughout the week, the ROTC is staffing a table in the CUB where members of the Shippensburg community can write notes of appreciation for veterans. The notes will be shared at the Boulder Crest Retreat, a non-profit organization that supports veteran health and wellness.
