For 17 years, Shippensburg Arts Programming and Education (SHAPE) has brought the Shippensburg Community together with various events, exhibitions of fresh local art and diversified culture.

Nestled in downtown Shippensburg, the SHAPE Gallery may be overlooked by those caught up in the hustle and bustle at Shippensburg University. However, SHAPE’s 2017 Winter Gala is the perfect opportunity to stop by, mingle, learn a little bit about the SHAPE Gallery and see the artistic talent the town has to offer.

The SHAPE Gallery Winter Gala is free to the public, and will be held this Friday, Jan. 27, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

According to a SHAPE Gallery press release, Ashley Burrows — the SHAPE Gallery’s membership coordinator — said that SHAPE’s annual member drive is a great opportunity for community members to meet the faces behind the SHAPE Gallery and learn how they can get involved. She also said it is a good opportunity to showcase to the community what the gallery has accomplished in the previous year and what it hopes to do in the new year.

Throughout the course of the Winter Gala, there will be live performances by Tresa Paul and Tyler Michael Law. There will also be door prizes, a make-and-take craft table, sponsorship opportunities, free appetizers, and a cash bar. Artwork donated to the SHAPE Gallery will be available for purchase during the Winter Gala, as well.

“SHAPE has been here for 17 years and we aren’t going anywhere,” Burrows said in a SHAPE Gallery press release. “We have our engines set full speed for the future and we invite everyone to join us for the ride.”

To learn more about the SHAPE Gallery, or to keep up to date with other SHAPE Gallery hosted events, visit www.shapeart.org or find them on Facebook.
