Police charged a second suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred in the area of Shippensburg’s Bard Townhouses on Monday.

Kevin Malik Kenney, 20, of Philadelphia, was charged Wednesday night with two counts of felony aggravated assault, felony burglary, robbery, carrying firearms without a license and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and robbery, according to The Sentinel. Kenney was also charged with a misdemeanor of simple assault, The Sentinel reported.

On Monday around 11 p.m., Kenney and Sherrod Eugene Baltimore, 21, of Harrisburg, allegedly broke into a townhouse in the 1200 block of Bard Drive, located just outside of the Shippensburg University campus.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, a fight between the two men and one of the townhouse’s residents ensued. Kenney and the resident were shot during the encounter.

SU students received a text alert earlier that evening of shots fired in the area.

Kenney was transported to the Hershey Medical Center where he received treatment for gunshot wounds to his abdomen, according to The Sentinel. The townhouse resident was transported to York Hospital for treatment, The Sentinel said, but there are currently no reports as to the extent of the resident’s injuries.

Kenney is awaiting a preliminary court hearing after charges were filed through the district judge’s office, The Sentinel reported. Baltimore is being held in the Cumberland County prison in lieu of paying a $300,000 bail, according to The Sentinel.
