Two fire companies responded to a vehicle fire just after 10 p.m. at 20 N. Queen St. Tuesday.

Smoke was rising from the unoccupied vehicle’s engine, said Lt. Dylan Woosnam, of the Vigilant Hose Co., and a Shippensburg University alumnus. Firefighters forced the hood of the vehicle open and doused it with water using a 300-foot hose.

The vehicle was located off of Martin Avenue near the King Street Sheetz. Vigilant Hose Co. and Cumberland Valley Hose Co. pulled their engines into the Sheetz parking lot and on Martin Avenue to gain access to the vehicle.

Woosnam said firefighters are not sure what caused the engine to smoke. No injuries were reported.
