Despite having the best record in the NBA and winning the NBA Finals last season, many critics and fans questioned whether the Golden State Warriors and current league MVP Stephen Curry were truly as good as advertised last season.

Despite finishing the regular season with a franchise record 67 wins and 15 losses, people were still skeptical of the Warriors and, more specifically, Steph Curry, due matchups in the playoffs.

Some people even argued that the MVP award should have gone to the Houston Rockets’ James Harden instead of Curry last season.

One of the reasons people were so skeptical was the fact that during all four rounds of the playoffs last year, the Warriors had to face a team that was without their starting point guard.

In the first round of the playoffs, the Warriors faced the New Orleans Pelicans, who were without Jrue Holiday. Then it was on to the Memphis Grizzlies, who lost Mike Conley early in the series against Golden State. Then it was on to the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference Finals, who were missing one of the best defensive guards in the league in Patrick Beverly. And then Kyrie Irving went down with a knee injury after game one of the NBA Finals for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

These injuries to key players the Warriors faced in the playoffs made critics much more skeptical of Curry’s performance since he no longer had to guard the team’s best point guard and vice versa. The opposing team’s best option to guard Curry was no longer available.

Curry and the Warriors must have heard all the talk and doubt about their championship season over the summer because they started this year with a bang and that is an understatement.

The Warriors started this season 24-0 before losing on the road to the Milwaukee Bucks back on December 12th. The team is now 45-4 and on course to either match or beat the best record in NBA history of 72-10, set by the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls.

The Warriors have been playing very well as a team but Curry in particular has been on fire all season. Curry is first in scoring in the NBA, averaging 29.8 points per game. With the way he has been playing, Curry is essentially a lock at this point to win his second straight MVP award.

To put in perspective how well Curry has been playing this season, on the road Wednesday against the Washington Wizards, Curry scored 51 points.

Curry hit 11 three point shots, which tied an NBA record for most three’s made in a game. Curry has now tied that record twice, the first time when he hit 11 three’s in a game against the New York Knicks back in 2013.

Curry had 36 points in the first half against the Wizards and shot 13-of-14 from the field in that half, as well.

Curry and the Warriors are dominating the NBA and are not showing any signs of slowing down. The Warriors are on a mission to make history and enter their names into the NBA records books as “The Best Team in NBA History.” With the way this team is playing right now, it does not look like anyone will stop them.
