The last time SU women’s soccer lost in overtime during the regular season was the final game of 2009.

Mansfield (1-4, 1-4 PSAC) broke Shippensburg’s run on Tuesday afternoon at David See Field on a corner kick conversion just over a minute into overtime.

The Raiders (1-2-1, 1-2-1 PSAC) went 4-0-5 in their last nine overtime games. That includes a 0-0 tie in week two at Slippery Rock and a 1-0 victory four minutes into overtime this past Saturday against Kutztown.

Shippensburg had two decent scoring chances in the first half. Freshman Jenny Litz closed in on MU goalkeeper Alana Greenawalt in the 14th minute and fired a close- range rising shot that was saved on a diving deflection.

Senior Alyssa House had a second scoring attempt in the 32nd minute, when she headed another corner kick toward the net, but Greenawalt, who had seven saves on the night, knocked it away.

The winning goal came when the Marauder’s Bri Carr sent a corner kick toward the left side of the net that was tipped in to break the tie. After the game it was determined that a SU defender may have deflected the ball.

Shippensburg recorded 16 shots in the game to MU’s eight, with a 5-2 margin in corner kicks.

The Lady Raiders play at 5 p.m., this Saturday, at Edinboro. The Fighting Scotts are 0-4-1 this season.
