Times are good early on this season as the Shippensburg University women’s basketball team beat Cheyney University Saturday afternoon 76–68, sending its overall record to 4–1 and 2–0 against PSAC opponents.

The Raiders captured their third-straight victory behind a strong second half showing as SU notched 40 points as a team.

SU was led all game by the three-headed monster of Stephanie Knauer, Lauren Gold, and Sarah Strybuc.

The three combined to score 57 of the team’s 76 points.

Knauer led the Raiders with 21 points while Gold and Strybuc each contributed 18 points.

This win is key for the Raiders, especially because they did not have their best shooting game.

As a team, SU shot 42.9 percent from the field, making 21 of its 49 shots.

The team also struggled from long range, making just three of its 14 attempts.

Lucky for the Raiders, they took advantage of the Wolves mistakes, making 31 of their 39 freethrow attempts.

The Raiders will return to the court on Dec. 1, when they play host to Bowie State.

Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. inside Heiges Field House.
