Shippensburg University’s College of Arts and Sciences held its Deans’ List ceremony Thursday, Oct. 11.

The ceremony recognized those students who received at least a 3.3 GPA in the spring 2012 semester. There were 952 total students who achieved this within the college of arts and sciences. This number includes deans’ list students who graduated in May 2012.

Approximately 70 students attended the ceremony Thursday and were awarded with their certificates. Several students’ families and friends also attended.

Dean of Arts and Sciences James Mike welcomed attendees, and congratulated them on their achievements.

Susan Rimby, Interim Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences, spoke after Mike. She also called the names of all of the students attending.

Although the requirement for deans’ list was a 3.3 for the spring 2012 semester, it has changed for this semester and those to continue. Students must now achieve at least a 3.5 GPA to make deans’ list.

“This is an accomplishment you should all be proud of. I hope to see all of you, and more, next semester,” Mike said.

Refreshments and cake were available to attendees after the ceremony concluded
