The Shippensburg University volleyball team honored the United States military, and then leveled Millersville University in straight sets, 25-16, 25-22, 25-21, Tuesday night at Heiges Field House.

Members of the SU ROTC and other members of the military were honored before the game during Military Appreciation Night. Then, they were treated to a demolition show led by Jill Edwards and company.

The Raiders rebounded from a straight-set loss to Gannon University and a nail-biting loss to Edinboro University against an overmatched MU squad.

The Raiders dominated throughout — only trailing twice throughout the match and were able to capitalize on MU’s miscues. The Marauders converted an abysmal eight percent on its attack and committed 19 errors throughout the match.

Jenny Pry, Taylor Gottshall and Edwards were key components on the attack, registering 29 of the team’s total 39 kills in the match. The team converted 27 percent of its kills — ultimately being the difference of the match.

Lauren Murphy and Andrea Heimsoth were solid on the defensive front, with the two of them combining for 20 digs in the game.

The Raiders have won in straight sets in four out of its last seven contests.

The Raiders improved to 11-5 overall (2-2 in PSAC) while MU fell to 6-8 on the year (0-4 in the PSAC). The Raiders will host Kutztown University at 1 p.m. and Fairmont State University at 6:30 p.m., Saturday at Heiges Field House.
