Field hockey stunned in OT, lose in playoffs

In the first round of the PSAC Playoffs, the field hockey team dropped a heartbreaker, surrendering an overtime goal to suffer a 3-2 loss to Bloomsburg University. Shippensburg twice erased single-goal deficits, but allowed the game-winning goal in overtime to the Huskies, who were playing down one player due to a green card. The Huskies scored the opening goal of the game in the 24th minute when Laura Gerhard jumped on a rebound and snuck it into the goal to give Bloomsburg the 1-0 lead.


Field hockey wins finale, prepares for postseason

Field Hockey wins regular season finale The field hockey team concluded its regular-season win with a 3-0 victory over Bloomsburg University. The Raiders (13-4) captured their first goal of the game in the opening minutes when sophomore Kylie Huffman scored off a shot just inside the circle, which was her second goal of the season. SU extended its lead a minute later when freshman Brooke Zeiders converted on a penalty stroke just inside the left post.

The field hockey team split its pair of home games this week, dropping a 5-2 matchup versus West Chester University but rebounding with a dominating 7-1 beatdown of Mansfield University. Shippensburg (8-2) totaled 53 shots, including 33 shots-on-goal in the two contests. The Raiders’ next test is a home matchup on Wednesday, Oct.

The women’s soccer team captured a 2-0 victory over Shepherd University, but dropped a 2-0 decision against West Chester University in a pair of games this week. So far this season, SU (3-4-1) has faced a rigorous schedule.
