Private Prisons undermining united states' criminal justice system

In the United States, there are two basic types of prisons. Those that are run by the government, and those that are run by private corporations. The latter, often referred to as “for-profit” prisons, have become extremely common nationwide, with nearly 50% of all prison inmates in private prisons.
