A GoFundMe page for an SU alumna and former lacrosse player diagnosed with stage four breast cancer raised more than $9,000 in less than a day.

Julia Wise graduated from SU in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in exercise science. She was a solid defensive player in her three years on the SU lacrosse squad, contributing to 15 wins in her career. While the team struggled at times during her tenure, Wise was one of the most consistent contributors.

While looking at graduate schools this summer, 23-year-old Wise was diagnosed with breast cancer and told that the disease had spread to her bones and liver. She began treatment at the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.
