The Shippensburg University women’s volleyball team started off their 2016 season with two victories on Friday, Sept. 2 and one win and one loss on Saturday, Sept. 3 at the Raider Classic held in Heiges Field House.
On a beautiful Saturday night on the campus of Shippensburg University, the men’s and women’s cross-country teams were set to battle in their only home meet of the season. This meet had a twist, however.
The Raiders have taken the season by storm, outscoring opponents 10-1 throughout the first three games of the season. SU began the season winning a tightly contested match against Messiah College, 1-0 in overtime on a goal by senior Katelyn Grazan. SU beat Messiah last season in a similar fashion, winning in overtime 1-0.
It was not pretty, but in the end the Shippensburg University football team got the best of American International College, stinging the Yellow Jackets, 16-9. The win marked SU’s 500th in school history. The Raiders started playing football in 1891.
