Nostalgic television stars spoke their truth in a new Max documentary series called “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.” The series aired for the first time on March 18, and it encompassed emotional stories from people who grew up working for Nickelodeon. It is important for society to understand the burden that Nickelodeon placed on these lives and how to minimize the chances of this abuse happening again.

On Tuesday, April 2, she gave a presentation at Shippensburg University to discuss an ongoing study she calls “Unequal Categories.” meant to serve as an introduction to the often uncomfortable understanding of the inherent racism, sexism and general subjectivity of psychiatry.

Safety on Campus: Student leaders reflect on the semester

(04/09/24 4:00pm)

As the semester draws to a close, it is often a time for many students to reflect on the past three months as a whole: the ups, the downs, the good, the bad and the ugly. The semester is different for each student, but the fall semester, in particular, had many students concerned about one thing — safety.

Your World Today: Never leaving square one

(04/09/24 4:00pm)

Embarrassingly enough, I refused to dive off the block until I was three summers deep into my local summer swim team. Do not get it twisted — I loved diving. From the side of the pool, I could have spent hours leaping into the water, feeling the rush around me as I torpedoed to the other side.

College Needs a Rebrand

(04/09/24 4:05pm)

Higher education has a branding problem that is affecting its bottom line. After decades of compulsory enrollment, universities are finding that they are losing customers to trade schools and the workforce. This is causing cracks to form that, if left untended, have the potential to shutter colleges and universities across the country.

Fashionably Slate: Big as the what?

(04/02/24 4:00pm)

Finding outfits to wear to concerts can be difficult, and it varies between artists. Today, I am lucky enough to attend Drake’s “Big as the What?” tour. Though I have a fashion column for The Slate, I normally dress in sweatshirts and sweatpants due to comfort. On a day where I am going to a concert, it’s very important to me to do things that I would not do every day.

In response to the Letter to the Editor

(04/02/24 4:04pm)

There are many kind and wonderful people in sororities and fraternities. Some of my close friends are in Greek life. My best friend ran for president of her sorority last year. My roommate participates in an academic fraternity and has had glowing things to say. This is a criticism of a system. Whether or not that criticism extends to the people who support the system is up to interpretation.
