'The Nutcracker' brings bright, holiday cheer to Luhrs

The State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine presented ‘The Nutcracker’ on Nov. 17 in the H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center. This is the second show at Luhrs this year and was a perfect start to this upcoming holiday season. Families young and old travelled to view the show, including President Patterson and Mrs. Patterson.

A mental health day that you can afford to take

Seasonal affective disorder is hitting hard as final deadlines and the end of the semester quickly approaches. Through general and Covid-19-related absences this semester, many students cannot afford to miss more classes before finals week. Rather than becoming consumed by essays and exams, students should find simple ways to relieve stress without having to take the whole day off.

Commentary: "Voyage" into the sweet 70s with ABBA's new album

ABBA released their first album in nearly 40 years on Friday, Nov. 5. The album “Voyage” consists of 10 tracks, including, “Just A Notion.” The track was recorded in 1978 but not released until Oct. 22, according to the ABBA Voyage website.

Halloween is the holiday of spirits and horror. The music surrounding it always completes the spooky atmosphere of the season with unique sounds and creepy lyrics. Often though, I find myself tired of hearing “Spooky Scary Skeletons” every single mealtime in Reisner Hall. Meet Shippensburg University Alumni

Shippensburg University alumni gathered behind Seth Grove Stadium to tailgate for the Homecoming football game on Saturday, Oct. 23. Despite the overcast weather, alumni got together to celebrate their Raider pride. Alumni reconnected with student organizations, friends and enjoyed perks from the Alumni Association tent. The Slate spoke with some alumni at the SU tailgate to hear stories recounted by many generations of alumni.
