Review: Splatoon 3: a ‘splat-tacular’ sequel

(09/20/22 4:00pm)

“Splatoon 3” at its heart is a third person shooter that, instead of the industry standard use of heavy munitions, is more reminiscent of backyard water gun fights and color wars.

Review: My 2-Bits on ‘Princess Farmer’

(06/14/22 4:00pm)

Many students use video games to relax after a long day, myself included. Games like “Animal Crossing” aim to create a calming experience for the player while games like “Merge Mansion” use a simple, repetitive premise and loose storyline to keep players entertained. Publisher Whitethorn Games combines these game concepts to foster a cozy and chill aesthetic with their 2021 puzzle game "Princess Farmer."

New beginnings through campus community and connection

(01/25/22 5:00pm)

Spring semesters are always exciting. For some students, it is their last semester at Shippensburg, while others feel a renewed confidence after completing the previous fall semester. This confidence is not unearned as many of us dealt with numerous hardships stemming from the pandemic.

Review: Risk it all and build your rewards with "Loop Hero"

(12/21/21 11:43pm)

Live, die, repeat, live, die, repeat - this can be the endless loop you can feel playing games in the rogue-like genre. However, “Loop Hero” exploits that repetitive cycle as its entire gameplay.

Review: “Inscryption” is delightfully creepy if you play your cards right

(11/02/21 4:00pm)

I have played many deck building video games, from “Slay the Spire” to “Pokemon TCG” on the GameBoy color, but “Inscryption” by Daniel Mullins Games is a new and creepy take on the genre.

Review: "Far Cry 6" includes beautiful scenery, but follows disappointing patterns

(10/26/21 4:00am)

It has been exciting to see adventure shooter games progress since the Xbox360 and PS3. Storylines have gotten richer, characters more dynamic and graphics more realistic. However, the new “Far Cry 6” lacks ambition and stays true to its roots, for better or worse.

Review: Slime Rancher brings players nostalgia with recent launch on Nintendo Switch

(09/14/21 4:00pm)

Slime Rancher is an indie farming game developed by Monomi Park and released early in January 2016. Players assume the roll of Beatrix LeBeau, a rancher who moves to the planet known as the “Far Far Range.” The player is allowed to farm and explore the open world at their own pace. The game's main objective is to collect “plorts,” a farmable resource compiled from the game's main cattle: “slimes” a gelatinous creatures that come in many shapes and sizes. The player sells the plorts and gains money for better gear to further explore the world.

Cell phones are fantastic tools; they give us access to limitless knowledge, keep us in touch with loved ones and most of all, they give us endless amounts of social media and news to consume. The one problem is these little bricks of endless entertainment can cause extreme stress.

Returning to “normal”

(08/31/21 7:30pm)

As we begin our second week of classes, I can’t help but admit it feels weird returning to the normal we once treated as nothing special. Seeing large crowds on campus and entire classrooms filled to the maximum, can make people anxious.

Review: “Banana Splits tra la la la terror”horrifically dissapoints viewers

(08/24/21 4:00pm)

Horror walks such a thin line between causing genuine fear and being downright comedic and some movies such as “Evil Dead” are both funny while at times scary and unnerving. “The Banana Splits Movie” from 2019 unapologetically is neither scary nor funny.

(02/23/21 5:00pm)

Beginning as a graphic novel in the early 2000s, “Scott Pilgrim vs the World” gained a vast following, eventually leading to the 2010 movie of the same name, and with it a game.
