Raiders grind out win over Golden Knights, 3-2

The Shippensburg University women’s soccer team bested Gannon University, 3–2, in a physical matchup between the two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) teams. The Golden Knights controlled the tempo early on Friday’s gloomy afternoon and jumped out to a quick 2–0 lead off goals by Aesling McCullough and Hannah Hays in the third and sixth minutes, respectively.

K.K. O’Donnell played a huge role in helping the Raiders defeat PSAC rival Gannon University. She totaled one goal and one assist while putting up three shots on goal on Wednesday. O’Donnell — a freshman midfielder — has been a key part of the Raiders’ offense, totaling two goals and three assists so far this season.

Volleyball continues winning streak against Clarion, IUP

The Shippensburg University volleyball team has been on a hot streak since the first week of the season and has now won 11 matches in a row after its last two victories against Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) and Clarion University.

Football suffers setback against Vulcans, 57-14

The Shippensburg University football team went back to action after riding the high of an intense, last-minute victory against Slippery Rock University in its previous outing, only to fall flat on both offense and defense in a big loss to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West squad California University of Pennsylvania (CALU), 57–14.

The 2018 edition of the Red Raider Pack made its entrance before the family day matchup between the Red Raiders and the Vulcans. The Red Raider Pack is a group of more than 100 students from elementary schools in the Shippensburg district. The students get to run through the marching band tunnel, immediately following the players to kick off the game. Pack members get special privileges to meet SU players, the cheerleaders and the team mascot, Big Red.

The SU offense struggled to get much momentum going on offense throughout the game. The unit tried a balanced attack with passing and the run game, but neither could give the Red Raiders a foothold in the game. The ground attack could not reach 100 yards and the SU quarterbacks threw for just 229 yards.

Volleyball stays hot, beats No. 14 Wheeling Jesuit

The Shippensburg University volleyball team is on a tear. The squad won its last five matches including the one last Saturday, in which it defeated host West Virginia State (20–25, 25–16, 25–13,25–21). The Raiders also defeated Shepherd (25–23, 23–25, 25-19, 25-15) in a match held at the Convocation Center in Institute, West Virginia.

Junior Samantha Webber was on fire in SU’s four-game series win, posting 22 kills and nine assists against Wheeling Jesuit and Fairmont State, as well as 26 kills and six blocks in the matches against West Liberty and Charleston.

Red Raiders pull off last minute win, improve to 2-0

The Shippensburg University football team took the field against cross-conference opponent Slippery Rock University for the first time in five years, ending with a thrilling finish that brought SU fans to their feet as the Red Raiders took the win in the final seconds, 25–21.
