Commentary: Broadway musical ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ reminds audiences that they are not alone during hard times

(09/08/20 4:00pm)

I saw the Broadway musical “Dear Evan Hansen” with the Activities Program Board (APB) in February 2020. Stageagent.com summarized the show well, saying it “[T]ells the story of a young man with social anxiety disorder who so yearns to make a connection with his peers, that he fabricates a relationship with a deceased student to become closer to the boy’s family.”

Review: The ‘Harry Potter’ franchise from the eyes of someone who never wanted to watch the movies

(09/01/20 4:00pm)

I somehow managed to make it to age 21 without ever sitting through an entire “Harry Potter” movie. A 10-year-old version of Hannah attempted to read the series; I read Book 1 and part of the second book during one summer but was not intrigued enough to continue. This book and film franchise consumed my peers (and the world) during my adolescence, although I never understood why. My mom would watch a movie or two when ABC Family would show the entire franchise back-to-back over a weekend, but I never made it more than 15 minutes.

Review: ‘Geography’ brings listeners on a trip around the world from their home

As a musician, I am open and willing to listen to any type of music. During the summer, with my enormous amounts of free time, I found myself searching for new artists to listen to every week.

Commentary: The “Hamilton” pro-shoot is revolutionary

(08/18/20 4:00pm)

As a musical theater fan myself, I have been fortunate enough to see numerous shows on not only Broadway, but also England’s Broadway, The West End. While live theater is a wonderful experience, distance and price can sometimes make it difficult to see the show in person.

Commentary: Time spent in quarantine helps listeners discover new music

(08/06/20 6:41pm)

Over the course of the unprecedented past few months, we have lost many simple joys. We lost the ability to connect with one another in person as we feared the unknown impact of the COVID-19 coronavirus. Within this darkness, I brought some life back into my 2020 by finding happiness in good music.

Review: ‘Marriage Story’ is NOT the fairytale the title leads you to believe… it’s better

(07/23/20 6:07pm)

"Marriage Story” is not your typical romance movie, instead it captures the roller coaster of emotions between two people getting a divorce.

Commentary: How my playlist evolved in quarantine

(06/24/20 6:19pm)

After three months of quarantine due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, my playlists began to get repetitive. While listening to jazz and classic rock is fun, I decided to check out new music in genres in which I do not typically listen. I noticed that I have started to listen to more solo artists and jam bands. Here are a few new editions to my playlist:

(04/21/20 7:00pm)

The Netflix documentary series “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness” follows the life of the eclectic big cat zoo owner, Joe Exotic. But did the series truly address all the problems associated with private zoos? No, it did not.
