The Shippensburg University Student Government Association (SGA) held its third public meeting of the semester on Thursday, Nov. 6, in the CUB MPR.

The SGA Vice President of Finance Emily Wojnarski gave a few brief updates on changes coming to the Budget and Finance Committee, which were voted on during Thursday’s meeting.

The changes include minor updates to verbiage and titles, adding an appendix item about the 10% melt from earlier in the semester and granting voting rights to a new member of the Budget and Finance Committee.

According to Wojnarski, for any groups that are requesting an operating budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year, the deadline to submit is 4 p.m. on Nov. 25. Typed budget requests must be submitted to the SUSSI office or emailed to Allison Rippeon at ANRippeon@ship.edu.

There were no new student groups to approve during Thursday’s meeting, according to VP of Student Groups Ella Zinn.

The brief reports from SGA officers were followed by a few reports from senators. Class of 2029 Senator Caleb Tilden reported on updates coming to the SGA election process that were decided at an Elections Committee meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

The committee agreed to update the language used in election rules and regulations documents and to remove the time requirements from the petition process.

There will be two elections in the spring 2026 semester, one for the Executive Rules Committee, which includes SGA officer positions, and the other for senator positions.

In board reports, Activities Programming Board (APB) President Ella Penny discussed the high levels of student turnout at recent campus events. According to Penny, a trivia night will be held on Nov. 15 in the CUB MPR. DJ wars will also be held in the CUB MPR later this November.

In University Committee reports, the next Council of Trustees meeting will be held on Nov. 14, at 3 p.m. in the CUB MPR.

Toward the end of Thursday’s meeting, Wojnarski motioned to approve the updates made to the Budget and Finance Committee’s standing rules, which were approved unanimously. Wojnarski motioned to grant budget and finance voting rights to Class of 2029 Senator Alarice Huff, which was approved by the majority.

SGA President Nathan Garber announced the last public meeting, which will be held on Thursday, Dec. 4.
