SU survey to address, create new initiatives

Shippensburg University’s Climate Survey Working Group (CSWG) will be launching a survey at the end of October to assess the social climate of SU and identify successful initiatives, uncover challenges facing the community and develop strategic initiatives to build on successes and address challenges, according to Carlesha Halkias, executive director of the office of social equity.

Football suffers setback against Vulcans, 57-14

The Shippensburg University football team went back to action after riding the high of an intense, last-minute victory against Slippery Rock University in its previous outing, only to fall flat on both offense and defense in a big loss to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West squad California University of Pennsylvania (CALU), 57–14.

Yahoo's 9/11 video lacks truth, respect for day of tragedy

Yahoo on Sept. 11 released a video on Facebook that advertised the opening of the new Cortlandt Street Subway Station at the World Trade Center in New York City. At 14 seconds into the video, it shows an image accredited to Getty Images, with the caption “Under rubble when the twin towers collapsed in 2011” — which any American knows is false, showing the true definition of media blindness in this generation. In under one hour this video had 185,000 views and only 36 comments, with only six viewers realizing Yahoo’s mistake.
