A reporter and her cameraman in Roanoke, Virginia were shot dead by a former coworker on Aug. 26th. Local news station WDBJ-TV reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward were in the middle of a live broadcast interview when Vester Lee Flanagan II showed up unannounced and pulled out his gun, according to the New York Post.

Six police officers in the city of Baltimore, Maryland were charged on May 1 for the death of Freddie Gray. Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old African-American, was pulled into a police van and suffered spinal cord injuries that ultimately led to his death. The events were caught on video.
In the United States, there are two basic types of prisons. Those that are run by the government, and those that are run by private corporations. The latter, often referred to as “for-profit” prisons, have become extremely common nationwide, with nearly 50% of all prison inmates in private prisons. If this sounds at all sketchy, it is because it is. Private prisons undermine the entire point of the criminal justice system, and moves should be made to ban them nationwide.
