Ship.edu recommends students who take five classes should spend an average of 30 hours outside of class each week studying.
Those 30 hours should be spread throughout the week and weekend so students do not get burned out.
Students usually spend the week studying, doing assignments, reading, writing and more. Some classes require more attention than others, so beware of the difficulty of your courses.
Classes only take up a small portion of a student’s day. Therefore, there are plenty of hours to get in some study time.
However, do not try to pack it all together. Spread it out and allow yourself to absorb the information. Take a break from your work and come back with fresh eyes in case you made mistakes.
Professors expect students to be an active participant at all times. Lack of studying can lead to lack of participation in class.
College is the time to receive an education for whatever career you may end up in. You will be expected to be on top of your work all the time. Why would college be any different?
Do not be the student who comes to class and does not participate. If you study and complete assignments on time, then you will have something to contribute to discussions.
You can only get as much out of your work as you put into it. You do not want to have to repeat a course.
Be the student who wants to succeed in and out of class.
Head to the library or a quiet place on campus, get comfy and spend your time focused on your academics.
Sincerely,
