SU Qualified 37 Men for PSAC Championships

Shippensburg University’s men’s track and field team had 37 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifiers after it traveled to Millersville University on Saturday.


Sophomore Marcus Line ran an NCAA-qualifying mark in the 400-meter hurdles for the second straight week. Line finished in 53.64 seconds. He also ran on the 4-by-400 relay team that finished second.


Senior Josh Hostetler threw an NCAA-qualifying mark in the javelin with a season-best throw of 204 feet 3 inches.


Sophomore Romarr Mayne won the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.9 seconds. Mayne was also on the winning 4-by-100 relay team with freshmen John Eisemann and Herman Kirkland and junior Tyrek Nelson. They finished in 42.07 seconds.


Three sophomores took the top three spots in the 800-meter run. Tom Troxell won with a time of 1:53.54 seconds. Joel Flott and Matt Gillette finished second and third.


Freshman Adam Phillippi cleared 15 feet 1 inch to win the pole vault and set a new personal record.


Junior Travis Nye threw the winning throw in the discus of 154 feet 2 inches. His throw was also a new personal record. Nye’s teammate Adam Deiseroth finished just behind him in second.


Senior Steve D’Arcy won the shot put. D’Arcy threw 48 feet 3 inches to finish second.


Senior Brian Beegle won the mile in 4:07.83 seconds. Two of Beegle’s teammates finished a few seconds behind him. Junior Stephen Schelander finished second with 4:12.65 seconds and senior Jake Sitler finished third with 4:18.2 seconds.


Three men also took the top 3 spots in the long jump. Kirkland won the long jump with a jump of 22 feet 6 inches. Sophomore Cody DeBoer jumped two inches shorter than Kirkland at 22 feet 4 inches and junior Elijah Trusty jumped 21 feet 7 inches.


SU’s men’s track team will be back in action next weekend at Bucknell.
