On Wednesday, Shippensburg students gathered in CUB 119 to discuss such topics with a conversation led by Megan Yost, Dickinson professor of psychology and women’s gender and sexuality studies.

Shippensburg University hosted its 18th annual Wellness Fair on April 10 in the Ceddia Union Building. There were 51 organizations from within the university and the community gathered in the multipurpose room. As attendees entered, they were given a bingo card and encouraged to visit all of the booths on their card in order to be entered to win a door prize.

Dr. Rachel Fish, a sociologist and professor of education, has dedicated herself to studying and reporting the subjectivity of psychiatry and its impact on youth. On Tuesday, April 2, she gave a presentation at Shippensburg University to discuss an ongoing study she calls “Unequal Categories.” meant to serve as an introduction to the often uncomfortable understanding of the inherent racism, sexism and general subjectivity of psychiatry.

Finding outfits to wear to concerts can be difficult, and it varies between artists. Today, I am lucky enough to attend Drake’s “Big as the What?” tour. Though I have a fashion column for The Slate, I normally dress in sweatshirts and sweatpants due to comfort. On a day where I am going to a concert, it’s very important to me to do things that I would not do every day.

The 1950s, ’60s and ’70s are notorious for fashion. Though it will never come true, I have always wished that I was born during this time period because of the impact its fashion had on society. The outfits, trends and aesthetics of these decades are timeless, and this has been proven within the last 50 years. Word of mouth says that as time moves forward, older trends are embedded into the present. Luckily, it seems as though specific trends during these decades will never fade away. Let’s flash back to the past.

Shippensburg University’s “Stitch & Bitch” event saw a turnout of crafty students and staff alike. The university’s Women’s and Gender Studies Program held the event during Women’s History Month to provide a place for women to chat about shared experiences while also learning new sewing skills.
