Shippensburg University junior Megan Lundy and senior Ryan Spangler were named to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-District team for Division II Athletics, last Thursday.
Lundy, who also received academic honors in 2014, is majoring in early childhood education and minoring in coaching. While balancing both school and athletics, Lundy has managed to keep a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons, Lundy was a main cog in the team’s 4x400-meter relay teams that won PSAC titles. She is a three-time NCAA qualifier, including 2014 indoor All-American honors in the open 400 meters.
On the other hand, senior Ryan Spangler recently graduated in May, capping his academic career with a 3.84 GPA. He has earned Academic All-District honors for the third consecutive year, while majoring in biology.
Spangler participated in cross-country in the fall and both indoor and outdoor track seasons, helping the team to its PSAC titles. In his career, Spangler was a 10-time PSAC place winner and competed at the 2013 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field championships.
Congratulations to both Red Raider athletes, who have represented SU well, both on and off the field.
